Sarah & Todd Palin Finalized Divorce Earlier This Year After 31 Years of Marriage
It's official… Sarah and Todd Palin are divorced after 31 years together.
Todd filed for divorce in September 2019, and People reports they quietly finalized the split on March 23. An Alaskan court official confirmed it was a non-contested hearing.
Back in September, Todd cited “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife” as the reason for the divorce.
The couple has five children together, including one minor son, Trig, 12. In his original filing, Todd was seeking joint custody of Trig and a fair division of assets. Most of their documents have since been sealed.
In the fall, Palin opened up to Dr. James Dobson about the split, and sounded blindsided. She said, “It's not easy to talk about. It was devastating. I thought I got shot.” At the time, she said they were in counseling and that it wasn't “over over.”
The couple met in high school and eloped in August 1988. She went on to serve as governor of Alaska and John McCain's running mate in the 2008 presidential election.
