Witherspoon posted a pic of herself on set with the Chihuahua and captioned, "With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday. He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together... I'm sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser 💔.”
Moonie's trainer Sue Chip also remembered him on Instagram, writing, "On this day - a day of 'throwbacks' I give you one of the greatest little dogs..."Moonie" of Legally Blonde fame. I'm sad to say that this morning in Los Angeles he left us. He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy.”
Five years ago, Reese and Moonie had a sweet “Legally Blonde” reunion when she was being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She mentioned him in her speech, saying, "My very, very famous costar Bruiser: I mean, he came all the way out of his kennel. He's a very busy working dog and he managed to show up today.”
Moonie, a rescue dog, was reportedly close friends with the Taco Bell dog, Gidget, who died in 2009, according to TMZ.
