Jessica Starr’s Mother Reveals New Details Following Meteorologist’s Shocking Suicide
Jessica Starr's mother is speaking out in the aftermath of the meteorologist's tragic suicide.
Carol Starr tells RadarOnline.com that Jessica had undergone a new type of LASIK eye surgery in October after suffering from poor eyesight her entire life.
“She went to, like, four specialists,” Carol said. “From what we're hearing now, it can have other implications, including on the optic nerve. It can cause some brain trauma.”
She went on, “It was affecting her sleep. She lost weight. You never expect it to get this bad.”

The mother continued, “She made it through so many bad things in her life… She was a strong woman. I raised a strong woman.”
Jessica hinted at complications when she tried to return to work at FOX 2 in Detroit in mid-November. She told Facebook fans she was “still healing,” adding, “I am struggling a little bit, so I do still need all the prayers and well wishes because this is a hard go.” She said doctors told her it could take up to “three months or so” before she would feel 100 percent.
On Thursday, RadarOnline.com exclusively learned the Oakland Medical Examiner had listed her cause of death as “hanging” and “manner of death by suicide.”
A spokesperson called it a “gruesome scene,” adding, “It's just very sad.”
Jessica was a married mother of two young children.
