Danny DeVito Recalls That One Time He Saved Michael Douglas’ Life
On Thursday's episode of “The Talk,” actor Danny DeVito opened up on a nearly deadly incident with his friend Michael Douglas, who was bitten by a snake in Mexico while they were shooting their 1984 film “Romancing the Stone.”
Danny shared, “The snake bites him on the hand… I overheard that the best thing to do is you suck the poison out right away. So I did!”
“Grabbed his hand… spitting all over the place,” DeVito continued. “And I said, 'It's a good thing this thing didn't bite you on the balls, man! You would be a dead man!'”
The film, which grossed nearly $77 million at the U.S. box office, was the first movie in which they co-starred. They would go on to work together in “The Jewel of the Nile” (1985), “The War of the Roses" (1989), and “Solitary Man” (2009).
Danny was on the show to promote his new film “Smallfoot.”
