Hilary Duff Makes a Comeback with New Music, TV Show… and Hair!
Hilary Duff joined “Extra's” Mario Lopez at Universal Studios to chat about her career comeback, home life with son Luca, and her edgy new look.
Duff sported a new 'do, recently dying her blonde locks turquoise after a trip to Cabo. “I felt mermaid vibes,” joked the 27-year-old actress. “I came home from the trip and decided to do it, it was just like wanting to do something a little crazy, and energize myself.”
The actress and singer has a lot on her plate. She released her new single "Sparks" on Tuesday, and is working on her first album in eight years, which she calls “personal,” having a more pop feel, with inspiration from a recent trip to Sweden.
“It's like a muscle, you got to get back in there and figure out what you want your sound to be like,” said Duff. “I also have a child and a TV show, so I try not to put too much pressure on myself to get it out to please everyone, it really needed to be right.”
The former Disney Channel star is also back on the small screen in the new show “Younger,” created by Darren Starr. The TV Land show kicked off on March 31, and airs on Tuesdays.
“He's so brilliant, he really knows how to write for woman,” said Duff of the director. “It has a lot in it for 20 to 50-year-olds.”
Duff has also been keeping busy being a mom to her 3-year-old son with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
“He's a spitfire, he's my little spark plug,” laughed Duff.
Hilary says Luca is a true mama's boy. “The love is amazing, he loves his dad too, but you know, he definitely is a mama's boy, I think all little boys are.”
