Will Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Try for a Son?
Kobe Bryant has been hanging out on a different kind of court — "Extra" went to the U.S. Open with the five-time NBA champ!
Kobe talked about being spotted in the stands with Colin Kaepernick, saying, "Colin and I have known each other for a while... It was good to catch up with him."
Kobe and his wife Vanessa just welcomed their fourth baby, another little girl they named Capri, on June 20. He gushed of KoKo (their nickname for her), "She has been our best baby. She sleeps like six hours. She's an absolute sweetheart."
He said the couple's older kids, Natalia Diamante, 16, Gianna Maria-Onore, 13, and Bianka Belle, 2, have been very helpful with the newcomer. "The big girls help around the house tremendously. Bianka absolutely loves her — the only challange we have is she wants to kiss her too much."
Will the couple try for a boy? "It's Vanessa's decision to make," he said, smiling. "She wants a boy more than I do. I'm comfortable having girls. It drives her crazy when I say that — she says, 'We're gonna get five girls 'cause you spoke it to existence.'"
Bryant just turned 41, saying they chose to celebrate it at home and to take a vacation later. "Just sit at home, relax with the family, barbecue."
Kobe has been spending some of his retirement writing books, including his newest children's book, "Legacy and the Queen." "The book is about tennis, it's about the emotions that take place with the main character, Legacy." The book is what drew Kobe to the U.S. Open. "The best way to launch it," he said, "was to launch it here."
He went on to tell "Extra" that Serena Williams inspired him as he wrote the story, and revealed, "She finally got the finished version today."
"Legacy and the Queen" is available for pre-order, and officially publishes September 3.
