Why Jim Carrey Thinks Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Will Love Living in Canada
“Extra” caught up with Jim Carrey, who weighed in on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's move to Canada, taking a break from speaking out about politics and playing evil Dr. Robotnik in “Sonic the Hedgehog.”
Jim, who is Canadian, thinks “it's great” that Harry and Meghan are settling in his home country.
Carrey explained, “I don't know them, but I think it's a good choice. Canada is a beautiful place, beautiful people, friendly people, and I think they'll love it there.”
While he has been outspoken about politics and President Trump in the past, lately the comedian has been taking a break.
He put it like this: “Yeah, yeah, because I live on two levels. There is the individual named Jim Carrey who created a persona and is playing on this game grid and this is a really interesting game. And sometimes, there is something that needs to be fought for, needs to be spoken out about, and so I want to be the lighthouse that warns people that they're getting close to the rocks.”
He continued, “I've taken some time to do that and I think I've done enough of that and people know how I feel, and I don't think anybody is changing anybody's mind right now, so I think we're at the limit of that.”
As for the film, he loved playing Dr. Robotnik. Jim said, “You know, smartest guy on earth! It was just evil play. It was evil, like a mustang that just broke out of the corral… They just let me go!”
He went on to describe what it's like acting opposite Sonic and other characters: “You're acting with the tennis ball on the end of a pole or a stuffed animal. You have to create; it is sort of a new form of pantomime that's happening.”
“Sonic the Hedgehog” opens in theaters February 14.
