Miley Cyrus Talks Painful Liam Hemsworth Divorce, Losing Her Virginity, and Past Hookups

Miley Cyrus is an open book — and now she's spilling even more secrets from her past.

In a new interview with Barstool Sports' “Call Her Daddy” podcast to promote her new song “Midnight Sky,” she talks about hooking up with girls, losing her virginity at 16, and her divorce from Liam Hemsworth.

Miley and Liam were together on and off since 2008, marrying in December 2018, and separating in August 2019.

Speaking candidly of the painful divorce, she said, “I had a very public, very big breakup that was over a 10-year span of a relationship. It's like a death when you lose a love that deep. It feels like a death. Honestly, sometimes [death] even feels easier because [with a breakup] the person is still walking on the Earth.”

It was a life lesson for Miley, who said, “Going though a massive breakup, one thing I gained through all the loss is an idea that what I do is for me,” adding that prioritizing yourself doesn't “mean you're selfish.”

Miley, who came out as pansexual in the past, said she was attracted to girls “way before I was attracted to guys.”

“When I was 11 years old, I used to think that, like, Minnie Mouse was super f**king hot,” she said. “Which is so good I ended up on Disney. My chances with Minnie went up by like 100. She was super hot to me. I always thought the female characters in movies were way hotter than any of the guys. I never understood what these girls were doing with these idiots.”

Cyrus explained, “I didn't really understand it, so I got my girlfriends to kinda hook up with me. The first [person] I ever hooked up with was a girl. Two of them.” Was it more than kissing? She answered, “Yeah.”

The star revealed she lost her virginity to Liam when she was a teen. “I didn't go all the way with a dude [until] I was 16,” joking “it wasn't Nick Jonas — I ended up marrying the guy. So that's pretty crazy.”

She also confessed to lying to Hemsworth way back then and telling him she wasn't a virgin. “I lied and said he wasn't the first so I didn't feel like a loser. I made somebody up that I knew, but we never actually had sex before.”

Miley said she held onto the lie for years, but when one of Liam's friends married the guy she supposedly lost her virginity to, she had to 'fess up.

She called it “a full-circle story” and “so f**king weird,” adding, “I was 24. I had to say, 'I lied when I was 16.' It was a lie that I held on to for like 10 years.”

Cyrus recently went through another breakup with boyfriend Cody Simpson, using the podcast to reveal what she's looking for in a future partner.
