Mark Feuerstein & Talia Light Rake Take Theater Online with Virtual Play Festival
Broadway is closed, but theater fans can check out the work of emerging playwrights thanks to a new virtual play festival!
Talia Light Rake launched the first-ever online theater company, Playdate, to explore the space between theater and film. Now, Playdate is teaming up with Mark Feuerstein on the festival and fundraiser "Find a Way or Make One."
The audience will be treated to six plays written by up-and-coming playwrights and performed online.
The festival will kick off on July 26 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET with a livestream of two plays. Viewers will get to see Mark and Michaela Watkins play a couple meeting on a blind date in Jack Spagnola's “You and Me and the Space Between.” The performance will be directed by Ryan Dobrin.
The second play is Lauren D'Errico's “Are You Still?” about web pages that come to life. The show, directed by Britt Berke and Miles Shebar, stars Liza Lapira, Parveen Kaur, Melinda Page Hamilton, Shane Johnson, Lily Du and Luca Bella Facinelli.
The festival will continue with more plays on August 2 and August 8. Visit PlaydateTheatre.com to learn more, and buy tickets for as little as a $5 donation.
Proceeds will go to Color of Change and L.A. YWCA's COVID-19 Relief Fund.
