Dr. Dre’s Wife Nicole Young Files for Divorce — What’s at Stake in the Split?
Rapper Dr. Dre, 55, and his wife Nicole Young, 50, are calling it quits after 24 years of marriage.
In court documents obtained by "Extra," Young filed for divorce on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences.
According to sources, they did not have a prenup, which means Dre could lose some of his $800-million fortune.
Since they have two adult children, child support will not play a part in the divorce proceedings. However, Young is asking for spousal support.
Young, who is a lawyer herself, is being repped by celebrity attorney Samantha Spector.
Dre and Young made their last public appearance as a couple at the Tom Ford fashion show with their daughter Truly in February.
That same month, Dre opened up about his birthday plans, which involved Young. During a radio interview, he shared with Big Boy, “I was in the studio last night — I decided to just keep it low-key this time — I'm going to have a few friends over and my wife is going to do a crab boil for me. I love crab. We're just going to kick it, kick it in my backyard.”
Young was previously married to NBA player Sedale Threatt.
TMZ was the first to report the news.
