E! News reports that Katherine died in a car crash in Henry Country, Tennessee, on Saturday.
According to documents, Katherine was driving south on U.S. Highway 79 in an SUV that was towing a boat. The crash happened when the car crossed the dividing median and started a rollover sequence. It eventually came to a stop on the east shoulder of the roadway after crossing the northbound lanes.
On Sunday, Katherine's sister Holly confirmed the sad news, writing on Instagram, “I have no words. On Friday morning I talked the family into taking this picture and had no idea it would be our last together with my precious little sister Katie.
