Megyn Kelly Talks Takeaways from Interviewing Joe Biden Accuser Tara Reade
“Extra's” Billy Bush spoke with Megyn Kelly today to learn more about her recent sit-down with Joe Biden accuser Tara Reade.
Reade accused Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993, when she was an aide in his Senate office. Biden has strongly denied the allegations, and has not been charged with a crime.
Billy asked Kelly if she believes Reade's story, and she responded, “I don't want to comment on what I believe just because I want to continue reporting on the case and I don't think it's necessary to say what my personal belief is because who really cares?”
Reade told Kelly during her interview that after the alleged incident, she confided in a friend named Karen.
Kelly tells Billy, “I believe that Tara told Karen this happened to Tara at the time it did. Now, that doesn't answer whether in fact it happened… I don't know Tara, I don't know why she told Karen this happened if it didn't happen, but we have seen that kind of thing happen in the past.”
Regarding Reade's credibility, Kelly told Billy, “I think all along I have felt whether it was my own accusation against my own boss at FOX or it was Christine Blasey Ford or it's Tara Reade, that it is up to the voter or the viewer to decide, and it's up to us as journalists to tell the story fairly. “
The former Fox News and NBC News host said she is not worried about any negativity when it comes to her reporting, saying, “I do all my interviews the same… I'm really just a lawyer at heart… I'm not on the side of Republicans and I'm not on the side of Democrats. I am on the side of truth, and I think I have a career that supports that.”
