'Extra’s’ Billy Bush Honors NYC EMT Diana Wilson for Her Sacrifices in Fighting COVID-19
Diana Wilson is among the brave men and women helping to fight COVID-19, and now the New York City Fire Department EMT is opening up to “Extra's” Billy Bush about life on the front lines. Watch!
Wilson is a mother of two young children, but she hasn't seen her family in nearly four weeks. “They know what I do and they know that I'm out there… helping people in my community… and they know that we all in New York City are doing what we do best.”
She also opened up about the challenges of doing her job in a pandemic, saying, “A differentiator here is when you're normally taking care of somebody, you're not worried about contracting anything yourself.”
While it does cause fear and anxiety, first responders fight through it, she explained. “We had a job to do. And people looked at us to make sure that we gave them some type of reassurance that their loved ones were going to be OK.”
Companies have been stepping up to take care of frontline workers, and recently, Verizon treated the FDNY to 75,000 meals. Wilson said the generosity “gave us the strength to keep giving.”
At the end of the call, Billy surprised Diana with gorgeous flowers from La Fleur Bouquets, revealing the same bouquet was headed her way!
