Cristina Cuomo Sets the Record Straight After Easter Verbal Attack
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo's wife Cristina is commenting on reports that her family was verbally attacked by a stranger on Easter Sunday.
On Tuesday, Cristina told “Extra's” Billy Bush from her New York home, “He was trespassing on private property, on our neighbor's property… We were off quarantine at that point, based on the CDC's two-week policy, and it was Easter Sunday and we went out for some fresh air. He started yelling to Chris. We felt threatened.”
Cuomo pointed out that police did investigate the incident. She revealed, “He tried to file a complaint. When the police looked into it, they saw that he had a record, reputation for causing trouble in the community, and quickly realized he had been lying about his whereabouts. He wasn't on the road, he was actually perched on our neighbors' property trespassing, and [the police] quickly dismissed it. He was definitely looking to start some trouble. It was disconcerting... Apparently, he seeks out attention on a regular basis, doing this to people in the community. That kind of level of trouble is really intolerable to me. It was time to say something about it instead of letting him talk."
Weeks after Chris tested positive, Cristina is currently recovering from her own case of COVID-19. It looks like their son Mario may now have it, too. She said, “I think he has the virus now. We haven't had him tested yet, but he has the same sinus cold that I do and yesterday he lost his sense of taste and smell... now he's in his own quarantine in his room.”
As for how stressful the COVID-19 outbreak has been, Cristina shared, “The anxiety of over passing it along to family members is really intense, and it also shows you the longevity of this virus. Here we are, thirty days into it, and no sign of re-entry for us yet and it's debilitating. It can be emotionally debilitating.”
A day ago, footage of Chris' “official reentry from the basement” aired on his CNN show “Cuomo Prime Time.” He said, “This is what I've been dreaming of, literally, for weeks.”
Greeted by Cristina, Chris said while waving to his kids in the video, “She doesn't have a fever, she doesn't have the symptoms anymore, she's seven days from quarantine. We're still a little scared, so I'll just give you one of these.”
Chris emphasized, “This is the dream, just to be back up here doing normal things. Thank you for being so nice to me, thank you for taking care of everything you had to, thank you for taking care of me, and Bella, thank you for stepping up and now adding family videographer to your résumé."
