In March 2018, Miles and her daughter Abigail Joy, 5, as well as Lauren Lew and her 1-year-old Joshua, were struck by a car driven by a woman with a history of medical issues. Joshua and Abigail Joy died, and Miles, who was injured in the crash, suffered a miscarriage in her ninth month of pregnancy two months later.
The driver of the car later took her own life.
