Sofía Vergara on Joining ‘AGT’ and Why She Likes Sitting Next to Simon
Sofía Vergara hit the “America's Got Talent” red carpet today for the first time!
The star opened up to “Extra's” Terri Seymour about her transition from “Modern Family” to “AGT,” saying, “How lucky I am! I have to be very grateful, actually, because I can't believe it.”
She continued, “There's a moment of, you know, what am I going to do now after 11 years? You're worried you're going to land in a place that's not going to be as fabulous and amazing as 'Modern Family,' a place where we had not a problem. We were all friends, we had a great time. I think this is going to be a good place for me. I like everybody. I like all the judges.”
Of sitting next to Simon Cowell, she said, “I don't think I have a choice. They told me to sit down there… At the end of the day, he has a lot of experience on this show, so when you're new, that's who you want to be with, because for me that's how you learn.”
Admitting she was nervous on her first day, Sofía said, “It was like my first day of school… that little anxiety of the new. Now I am fine.” Joking that the only people she has judged before are her friends and cousins, she said, laughing, “I judge them all the time.”
Vergara went on, “The best thing for me is to try to be myself, be honest, try to be a fair judge, 'cause I am not an expert on anything.”
Already feeling welcomed by the show, she shared, “Heidi gave me flowers. I had cake. I had more flowers. Everything was super warming… I think this is going to be a good family for me.”
