Donald Trump Jr.’s Explosive Interview on ‘The View’
Donald Trump Jr. was under fire Thursday on “The View.”
From the second he sat down with his partner and former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, things were explosive.
Trump was there to talk about his new book “Triggered,” and Abby kicked off the conversation by letting him know she was triggered when he tweeted the name of the alleged whistleblower connected to his father's impeachment inquiry.
Huntsman told him, “The whole point of releasing a name is to intimidate someone… That's something dictators do… We stand by our people. Why did you want to release the name?”
Don Jr. insisted the name had already been in the news, and he was simply quote-tweeting an article with the person's name in the headline.
He shot back, “I wish the outrage would be equal. There was no outrage when my family got a letter with powder in it.”
After much back and forth, Abby told him, “You seem fine with people leaking information if it makes you and your father look good.”
The war of words continued, and Whoopi pointed out, “If you're talking about the white powder that you got, this guy's family's getting the same thing. Why is it okay for one and not both?”
Trump responded, “We don't know that's actually happening to him,” and Whoopi explained, “Well, we don't know it actually happened to you.”
The show's conservative voice Meghan McCain was silent for much of the interview until she told him, “You and your family have hurt a lot of people and put a lot of people through a lot of pain… Does all of this make you feel good?”
Don Jr. answered, “I don't think any of that makes you feel good, but I think we got into this because we wanted to do what's right for America… and as a conservative I would hope that you would appreciate that conservatives haven't been known for fighting back for a very long time.”
Meghan insisted, “Inflicting pain on so many people wouldn't have been worth it to me or my family to the White House. So I want to know... is it worth it?”
Trump claimed, “It is worth it when I go around the country and I see people who are affected by these policies and getting to live their American dream again.”
When Kimberly interjected at one point, it was to say, “This is tough. I would like there to be more civility.”
McCain told her, “Then try and bring civility back then. You can do it.”
Another intense moment came later, when Whoopi told Don Jr., “Part of being president is having a pair that can take whatever comes toward you.”
Trump told her, “My father has a pair. No sitting president has taken the heat that Donald Trump has.”
Goldberg told him, “That is not true.”
