San Diego Comic-Con kicked off with a surprise appearance by Tom Cruise!
The star showed up at the very end of Paramount’s “Terminator: Dark Fate” panel in Hall H to introduce the much-anticipated “Top Gun: Maverick” trailer.
He told the crowd, “Thirty-four years ago, I made a movie in San Diego right here,” he said, referring to the original film from 1986. “I actually shot across the street at a restaurant.”
Tom continued, “For 34 years, you guys have been very, very patient with me. And I felt that it was my responsibility to finally really deliver for you.”
Cruise insisted, “All the flying you’ll see in this picture, everything is real.”
Get up to speed on where Maverick is today and see Cruise donning that iconic bomber jacket in the trailer. Watch!
“Top Gun: Maverick” hits theaters in 2020.
