‘Bikini Climber’ GiGi Wu Dead at 36 After Horrific Fall
GiGi Wu, a social media star known as the “Bikini Climber,” has died, reports Taiwan News. She was 36.
The Taiwanese woman, known for posing on mountaintops in bikinis, was on a multi-day solo hike in Central Taiwan's Yushan National Park when she fell 65 feet near Mabolasi Mountain.
She called for help on a satellite phone, and Focus Taiwan says she indicated she was in distress and unable to move. It took rescue workers more than 24 hours to reach her due to bad weather.
When rescue services arrived, she showed no signs of life. Temperatures reportedly dipped to freezing overnight, and the BBC says it is believed she died of hypothermia.
Wu was an avid amateur climber, completing 100 hikes in 97 bikinis in four years, according to Focus Taiwan.
While she hiked in normal climbing gear, she liked to pose in bikinis once she reached the summit.
