National Heroes Day: Americans to Remember
A month from today is National Heroes Day, which shines a light on ordinary Americans who have not received national recognition for doing extraordinary things, engaging in selfless acts, and displaying bravery against all odds.
The special day was inspired by the 2012 shooting inside an Aurora movie theater, when patrons helped save lives, setting a positive example for us all.
One hero to remember today is Chris Lucas, who died at the age of 26 while saving 18 lives in Missouri. In 2011, Lucas, a Pizza Hut manager, saved customers and employees while a tornado was rolling through Joplin.
