Kim Kardashian’s Positive Take on Paris Robbery, Plus: Her Reaction to Caitlyn Jenner’s Memoir
Reality star Kim Kardashian sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for her first TV interview since the Paris robbery that nearly cost her life.
While holding back tears, Kim told Ellen, "I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don't want to start crying, but I feel like that was so meant to happen to me – like, I'm such a different person.”
"I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things. It was probably no secret, and you see it on the show – I was being flashy and I was definitely materialistic before,” she went on.
Kardashian revealed that the robbers were following her for two years while she was flaunting her love for jewelry. She shared about her decision to stop wearing jewelry after the scary incident, "I don't care to show off like the way that I used to. Even though there's nothing wrong, truly -- it's okay if you're proud of that and you work so hard and you get something – it's just not who I am anymore."
Kim also gave a detailed account of what happened after being held at gunpoint. She said, "Automatically, your stomach drops. It's a feeling you can't even explain. Like, I knew that was it for me. I said a prayer, like, 'I know I'm going to heaven. I hope my kids are okay, and my husband.' I don't want to cry; you're making me cry.”
She emphasized, "But it does happen really fast. It was a good seven or eight minutes of torture, but when I look back and I analyze it, I'm like, 'Okay, they weren't aggressive.' It could have been way worse, so I don't want to sound like I'm not grateful. I'm out, I'm home, I'm safe, I'm such a better person – it's okay. Let's move on."
Kim also shared her thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner's new memoir. "My heart breaks for my mom [Kris Jenner], you know, because I feel like she's been through so much and [Jenner is] promoting this book and she's saying all these things. I don't think it's necessary and I just feel like it's unfair, things aren't truthful. It's just so hurtful. I wish her all the success in the world, but not at our expense.”
