MTV is revamping the MTV Movie Awards!
The pop culture kudos fest isn't just about movies anymore… it will include television too.
The newly minted MTV Movie and TV Awards will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. on Sunday, May 7 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Host, nominations, performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
Chris McCarthy, President of MTV, said in a statement, “We're living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you're watching it in a theater or on TV. The new 'MTV Movie and TV Awards' will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV shows resonating across youth culture.”
Leading up to the show, fans can get in on the action by attending the first ever Movie and Television Festival at the Shrine, featuring live music, special guests and food. Tickets will go on sale at a later date.
