How Blake Shelton Nearly Sparked Twitter War with Debra Messing
Singer Blake Shelton and actress Debra Messing were this close to getting into a Twitter feud over Donald Trump.
Debra was not happy with Blake after reading his remarks on Donald Trump in the latest issue of Billboard. In his interview with the magazine, he said, "Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don't always have to be so afraid. A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it.”
Messing interpreted Blake's comments as an endorsement of the Republican nominee. Instead of tweeting him, she wrote to his girlfriend Gwen Stefani, "Omg. How? @gwenstefani please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will strip you of your rights.” The tweet has since been deleted.
Shelton cleared the air on his Billboard comments, tweeting, "Hey before this gets going like it always does… I haven't enforced (sic) ANYBODY for president. And I not going to. I don't do that sh*t. My comment about wish there was another option but there's not is across the board... period. Now go dig up another story.”
Debra eventually apologized to Blake for her tweets, saying, "Ok- I regret commenting. My passions got the better of me. Sorry. @gwenstefani @blakeshelton.”
Blake accepted the apology from Debra, reiterating, "Thank you sis.. I don't endorse anybody. For this very reason!!"
