Last night, the White House hosted China's President Xi Jinpling and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at a lavish state dinner christened "An Evening of Lobster, Lamb, and Ne-Yo."

First Lady Michelle Obama was breathtaking in a ruffled, black, off-the-shoulder number by Vera Wang, long hair elegantly arranged to her right.

The dinner attracted many luminaries, including Joe and Jill Biden; CEOs Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jeffrey Katzenberg (DreamWorks), Bob Iger (Disney), and Tim Cook (Apple); "Empire" creator Lee Daniels; designer Phillip Lim; dancer Misty Copeland; and entrepreneur Mark Cuban.

According to People, the menu by Guest Chep Anita Lo, White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford, and White House Executive Pastry Chef Susie Morrison consisted of: wild mushroom soup, Maine lobster with leek rice noodle rolls, lamb with baby broccoli, and poppy seed bread-and-butter pudding with Meyer lemon curd litchi sorbet.

Ne-You, who has Chinese ancestry, sang for the crowd, which included his proud date... his mom, Loraine. Lee Daniels also brought his mom, Clara, to the event, then excitedly posted a picture of her — a vision in orange — alongside President Obama:

#whitehouse ...ok, it's a wrap!!!! #momsspeechless 🎉🇺🇸🎉

The event came hot on the heels of the Obamas welcoming the Pope for his first trip to the U.S., ending a busy week for the First Family.
