'Adventures of Superman' Star Jack Larson Dead at 87

Jack Larson, most famous for his role as Jimmy Olsen on "Adventures of Superman," the first TV show devoted to the Man of Steel, has passed away at the age 87. He died at his Brentwood home on Sunday.
Larson played Clark Kent/Superman's coworker at the Daily Planet for six seasons, from 1952 to 1958. Even after the show ended, he made occasional appearances in other Superman projects, such as the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and the 2006 movie "Superman Returns."
He was briefly portrayed in the 2006 Ben Affleck film "Hollywoodland," which explored the mysterious suicide of "Adventures of Superman" lead George Reeves.
Aside from acting, Larson was a playwright and associate producer of films with his partner, the late film director James Bridges, in the '70s and '80s.
