Kathy Griffin Quits 'Fashion Police'! Find Out Why
Comedian Kathy Griffin has quit “Fashion Police” after seven episodes.
She shared her resignation letter via Twitter.
She told fans, “When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved friend Joan Rivers at 'Fashion Police' I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a woman being brash and eccentric on television… I thought that I could bring my brand of humor to 'Fashion Police' so that beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate.”
Griffin later added, “I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance toward difference.”
She continued, “After 7 episodes of 'Fashion Police,' I discovered that my style does not fit the creative direction of the show & now it's time to move on. I wish E! and the E! team only the best...”
Kathy might be leaving the show, but she's not going anywhere. Griffin pointed out that she has plenty of tour dates coming up, and a show at the Kennedy Center in D.C.
E! confirmed the news in a statement saying, "We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!'s "Fashion Police." We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. "Fashion Police" will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9pm with our talented Co-Hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and Executive Producer Melissa Rivers."
Kelly Osbourne, who recently left the show, also chimed in, tweeting, "I could not be more proud of you @kathygriffin you have my love and support always!"
No word yet on where Osbourne will land. She told her mom Sharon on "The Talk" that she will use this opportunity to find something new.
