Jimmy Fallon Kicks Off 'The Tonight Show'! Watch the Must-See Moments
It's official! Jimmy Fallon is the new host of “The Tonight Show,” and we've got all the must-see moments from his premiere episode. Scroll down to watch the videos!
For the first time in more than 40 years, “The Tonight Show” was broadcast from 30 Rock in NYC. Jimmy kicked off the opening with a joke about the late-night show's rocky past.
“I'm Jimmy Fallon, and I'll be your host for now,” he said, before thanking past hosts, ”Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, and Jay Leno.”
The former "Late Night" host then introduced himself to all of Jay's fans from the 11:30 PM time slot, getting a little choked up as he talked about growing up in Upstate New York, his parents (who were in the audience), his wife Nancy and 6-month-old daughter Winnie.
One of the funniest moments of the show came early on when Will Smith joined Fallon -- both wearing overalls -- for a “History of Hip-Hop Dancing.” The skit included moves like “The Robot,” “The Carlton”… and “The Leg Thing No One Can Do.”
After a mid-episode performance by U2 (on the rooftop of 30 Rock, no less), a parade of stars took the stage.
It started when Jimmy said that the friend who told him he would never host “The Tonight Show” owed him $100, and Robert DeNiro walked onstage with the money in his hand.
From there it was everyone from Tina Fey to Kim Kardashian to Stephen Colbert! Watch the video to see who else showed up!
