Lily Tomlin May Tie the Knot with Longtime Partner
Emmy and Tony-winning performer Lily Tomlin and her partner of 42 years, writer Jane Wagner, are considering a walk down the aisle.
At the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception on Monday, Tomlin told E! News, "We're thinking maybe we'll get married."
In the wake of the recent Supreme Court rulings on DOMA and Prop 8, Tomlin says making same sex marriage legal is “pretty remarkable.”
"You didn't think that would happen," marveled the actress, who turns 74 on September 1.
Tomlin added that marrying Wagner, 78, isn't necessarily a priority but it would be “awfully nice.” Lily said, “Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very, very happy about it."
As for what kind of ceremony it will be, Tomlin cracked, "No rings, no bridal dresses. Maybe we'll be dressed like chickens."
