‘The Bachelorette’ Recap : Desiree Hartsock Cries a River over Brooks
Desiree Hartock’s romantic getaway to Antigua turned sour on “The Bachelorette” Monday night when frontrunner Brooks Forester, one of three finalists, dumped her!
In a new blog entry for People.com, Hartsock confessed she was completely “blindsided“ by the breakup.
“I was surprised watching the episode and seeing the conversations Brooks had with his mother and sister and with Chris Harrison, expressing his doubts and feelings,” she said. “He never expressed those concerns with me until it was too late. I was completely blindsided and heartbroken by his exit.”
Desiree admitted that she knew something was wrong as soon as he greeted her on the beach, but was “shocked” to find out he wasn’t “madly in love” with her, even though he wished he was.
Ultimately the bridal stylist is relieved that he was “brave” enough to talk to her, she just wishes he had done it sooner.
She added, “My dates with Chris [Siegfried] and Drew [Kenney] were so wonderful, but Brooks's departure really threw me for a loop. I didn't know what to do and I seriously considered going home and calling it all quits.”
Host Chris Harrison was "shocked" too. He told "Extra," “Looking back now, I think the writing was on the wall, I think he had already decided prior to even meeting with his family that he was kind of done… He wasn’t where she was, he saw how dead set she was on marriage and he just wasn’t there.”
There are lots of burning questions going into the finale next week, including whether Brooks will return and accept the final rose. ABC added to the mystery by skipping the finale teasers at the end of Monday night’s episode.
Harrison teased, “There’s a million possibilities now, next week is more riveting then last night.”
The word on the street is that Desiree is definitely engaged.
