Nick Lachey Makes Crack About Jessica Simpson’s Dad
Singer Nick Lachey decided he wasn't going to “plead the Fifth” when asked about ex-wife Jessica Simpson and her family.
Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live” on Tuesday with band 98 Degrees, Lachey played the question-and-answer game with host Andy Cohen.
Cohen asked, "What is the best thing about no longer having Joe Simpson as a father-in-law?" Lachey hesitated, but then laughed, "What is the best thing about not having Joe Simpson as a father-in-law? ... I don't have to play grab a** under the table on Easter Sunday.” Watch the exchange here!
Cohen also asked if Lachey ever watches “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” the three-season reality series that followed the couple as they struggled to make their marriage work.
"Wow. Is this the part where I can plead the Fifth? It's been years [since I've talked to Jessica]. Years. Honestly, probably six years," Lachey said. "It was like another lifetime ago."
Nick added, "I have not. As you can imagine, that's not popular viewing in my house. We don't sit around as a family and watch the old DVDs," he said with a laugh.
Lachey and Simpson divorced in 2005. Lachey married Vanessa Minnillo in 2011, and the couple welcomed son Camden John last September.
Simpson's father and mother finalized their divorce in April.
