Fired Anchor Tells Letterman: 'I Crawled in Bed and Called My Parents'
Would-be news anchor A.J. Clemente, who was fired for dropping the f-bomb on-air on his first day of work, landed on David Letterman's Top 10 list this week… and did a guest spot on the show!
Clemente told the late-night host, "I went home, crawled in bed and called my parents. But the next day, you gotta pick yourself up, you gotta laugh at yourself and keep going."
Appearances on “Today,” “Live with Kelly and Michael” and with Dave have boosted A.J.'s self-esteem. Instead of trying to get his job back in Bismarck, he's setting his sights a bit higher. "I've thought about it, but if ESPN comes knocking..."
Dave shot back, "Look, I'm trying to get you the job back in Bismarck, forget about ESPN. That ain't gonna happen. You're going back to Bismarck."
