Celebrate Women's Health Month!
"Extra" has teamed with Walgreens to celebrate Women's Health month and to empower "Extra's" female fans to make their health a top priority!
There are a few simple ways you can improve your physical and mental health, while lowering the risks of certain diseases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, here are some easy steps women can take to ensure their health is optimal:
Exercise
Each week, get at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity and 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous physical activity -- or a combination of both.
Eat a Nutritious Diet
--Fruits and veggies
--Grains (at least half of your grains should be whole grains, such as, whole wheat, oatmeal, and brown rice)
--Fat-free or low-fat versions of milk, cheese, and yogurt
--Fish, skinless poultry, lean red meats, dry beans, eggs, and nuts
--Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats
Prevention
Visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings and avoid risk induced behavior such as smoking and not wearing a seat belt.
Pay Attention to Your Mental Health
Get enough sleep and manage your stress.
