Jason Statham Talks Shop on 'The Mechanic'
Action star Jason Statham, whose latest action flick, "The Mechanic," opens Friday, told "Extra" he isn't the romantic comedy type.
"I'm not sure I'm cut from the right cloth," Statham said from the Las Vegas premiere of his film. "Maybe if Hugh Grant hangs up his hat and he asks me to fill his boots, then I might. I don't know. We'll see."
"The Mechanic" is a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film about an aging hitman who befriends a young man who wants to be a professional killer. Statham said he has "always been" a big fan of Bronson. "To be doing a film that he made in 1972 is a big honor. I'm sure there's gonna be a certain amount of people making comparisons, so they're big boots to fill. We did something quite different. It's a modern spin."
And will Statham work with Sylvester Stallone again in another "Expendables"? "Yes, we're talking about it now. So I think in the summer in June or July we should be getting together again."
"The Mechanic" drives into theaters January 28.
