Regis Philbin Denies Pay Cut Rumor
Not shy but retiring Regis Philbin fired back against rumors he's quitting "Live" due to a salary cut, according to TMZ.
Philbin claims a salary agreement was never reached and said his decision to leave the show was made a long time ago. Reege also set the record straight, saying he gave more than a 15-minute advance notice to co-host Kelly Ripa before announcing his retirement.
As far as Phibin's future is concerned, a pap who caught him at LAX wondered whether he would follow in Oprah's footsteps and launch his own cable station. Philbin nonchalantly replied, "Why not!"
