Matt Lauer Shoots Down Cheating Allegations
"Today" host Matt Lauer and his wife, Annette, are outraged over allegations that Lauer has left his family over infidelities, calling the tabloid story "a work of fiction."
"I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple," Lauer tells People.com in an interview from France, where he's been co-anchoring the NBC morning show from the Cannes Film Festival. "I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that."
He discredits each and every allegation made by the Enquirer.
1. He partied every night during the Winter Olympics: Lauer says he was in bed by 7:30 pm most nights, for his 1:30 am wakeup call.
2. He missed Valentine's Day with his wife: Lauer was, in fact, with his wife and three children on Feb. 14, skiing at the Whistler resort near Vancouver.
3. The other woman was said to be Whitney Houston's half-sister, Alexis Houston: Lauer didn't even have to respond to this one since Alexis already said she doesn't even remember meeting Lauer in 2007 when she visited "Today" with Whitney's aunt, Dionne Warwick.
"This is all made up," Lauer tells People. "All they had to do was check.
The Lauers do admit to having difficulties in their 12-year marriage. Annette Lauer even filed for divorce in 2006, but she says they have "worked through it."
Lauer once told "Extra's" Mario Lopez that the last person he said "I love you" to was "hopefully last night to my wife before I went to bed."
