Cameron Douglas Is Sentenced
The pleas from friends and family seeking leniency for Michael Douglas' son Cameron have apparently worked.
Calling it his "last chance to make it," Federal Judge Richard Berman sentenced the 31-year-old actor to just five years in prison on drug dealing charges, AP reports. He faced a 10-year sentence.
The judge said he wasn't convinced Cameron will turn his back on drugs, despite a heartfelt apology from the Hollywood scion in court. Cameron pleaded guilty in January to dealing methamphetamine and cocaine.
Cameron's father, Michael, his mother Diandra Douglas, stepmother Catherine Zeta-Jones and 93-year-old grandfather Kirk Douglas all sent letters to the court in hopes of persuading the judge to go easy on the young man.
