That One Time Tom Holland Was Faked Out by Robert Downey Jr.’s Stunt Double
“Extra” special correspondent and O magazine creative director Adam Glassman sat down with Tom Holland and Zendaya as they promoted their new film “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Holland reflected on his audition for the role, in which he had to read with "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. He said, “I walk into this audition and I see him and freak out a little bit inside. I go up to him… and I'm starting to get really breathy and I'm looking at him going, 'Wow, you're different in person. You don't look the same at all.' Then Robert walked in and I realized I'd been talking to his stunt double the whole time.”
Last week, Holland gushed about Robert at the Hollywood premiere of the film, telling "Extra's" Terri Seymour, "On- and off-screen, he's amazing.”
Terri spoke with Robert, who had similar things to say about Tom. Robert commented, “I never thought I'd wind up being a 'father figure' to another Avenger, but I couldn't pick a better character or actor to do it with.” Watch!
