Fall Must-Haves! Celebrity-Approved Staples You Will Want This Season
The fall season officially begins Sept. 23, but according to the fashion world, fall is in full swing!
If you haven't already, now is the time to pack up those cutoff shorts and flatform sandals, and revamp your wardrobe with cozy sweaters and suede booties. While you may or may not want to invest in some of the more eccentric fall trends to hit the runways earlier this year (think patchwork coats, car wash skirts and very furry shoes), you'll definitely want to stock up on some of these celebrity-favorite fall fashion trends that are great staple pieces for any wardrobe.
Just like Hollywood's most stylish starlets, you may have these on constant repeat this season!
High-Waisted, Flared Jeans
Give your skinny jeans a rest and add some '70s-inspired flare to your denim collection, like fashion icon Olivia Palermo and “Salem” actress Ashley Madekwe. Pair them with high heels to make them even more elongating.
Shop the look:
1. H&M Flare High Jeans, $39.99
2. Paige High-Rise Bell Canyon Jeans, $199
High-Waisted, Wide-Leg Trousers
Legs get more breathing room this fall. Starlet Selena Gomez looks sophisticated and sexy wearing a low-cut blouse tucked into a pair of super-flattering, high-waisted, wide-leg trousers. Try adding a wide, waist-cinching statement belt for extra impact.
Shop the look:
1. Rose-gal Casual Style High-Waist Wide Leg Pants, $22.90
2. ASOS Wide Leg Pants in Jersey, $45
Thigh-High Boots
Tall boots are always a fall staple, but this fall's tall boots are higher and sexier than ever! Many runway looks from fall/winter Fashion Week featured statement leather boots that were so high, they looked like leggings! These way-over-the-knee styles are definite head-turners!
Try a sleek black pair like Jessica Alba or model Kendall Jenner, or a neutral-toned suede pair. If thigh-high is a little too intimidating, go for just over the knee boots. They'll still help you achieve the legs-for-days look!
Shop the look:
1. H&M Thigh-High Boots, $59.99
2. Calvin Klein Jeans “Bisma” Boot, $189
3. Sam Edelman “Kayla” Over the Knee Boot, $284.95
Button-Front Skirts
The button-front A-line mini is a celebrity favorite this season! Whether it's a classic denim or luxe suede version, A-listers are in love with this versatile skirt. The skirt can be worn year-round, and would look fantastic with trendy patterned tights and booties when the weather turns cool.
Shop the look:
1. Topshop Suede Button Front A-Line Skirt, $140
2. Alexa Chung for AG Jeans “Kety” Denim Skirt, $180
Turtle Neck/Mock Neck Tops
Turtlenecks (and mock turtlenecks) have made a major comeback this year, especially after some heavy exposure on the fall/winter Fashion Week runways! Paper magazine even deemed 2015 as the “self-proclaimed year of the turtleneck.” So now's the time to stock up on this essential fall basic, which makes a great layering piece.
Wear them alone, tucked into a skirt or wide-leg pant, or layer them under a long vest or dress, or go for a cozy, oversized turtleneck sweater to keep you snug on chilly fall days.
Shop the look:
1. Velvet by Graham and Spencer Oversized Knit Sweater, $218
2. Express Sleeveless Mock Turtleneck, $24.90
