Robin Roberts Begins Medical Leave, Mother Dies
It's a rough week for “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, who traveled home to Mississippi just in time to say a final goodbye to her mother, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts. She was 88.
Robin was already set to depart on medical leave at the end of the week, but left a day early to see her mom. “GMA” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos told the audience on Friday, “She made it home just in time."
Roberts is suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome and will undergo a bone-marrow transplant.
Lucimarian and Robin released “My Story, My Song” together earlier this year. The inspirational book includes their reflections and recollections.
