The Royal 'Do: Kate Middleton's Hair Extensions
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, attended her first solo engagement for a charity event on Wednesday evening, wearing an elegant vintage gown with her hair pulled up.
The half up, half down style exposed what could have been a hair extension strip just below Middleton's hairline, giving the Duchess some extra volume, according to Daily Mail. The strip, made of synthetic or human hair, is usually inserted underneath the layers of real hair to achieve a fuller look and is attached with temporary glue or double-sided tape.
A hair extension expert said, "It looks like the hair extensions have been put in too close to the hairline, where the hair is finer and there is less coverage, therefore the strip is easier to see."
Regardless of whether Kate really did get some extra help with her chestnut locks, she glided around Clarence House during the formal night, mingling effortlessly with the 30 invited guests, her first solo event as a royal.
Prince William could not attend the event due to a trip to Riyadh to send his condolences to the Saudi royal family following the death of the Saudi Prince, Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, who passed away last week in New York at the age of 80.
