Was Kevin Blindsided by Britney?
The newly split Britney Spears was all smiles Tuesday night as she got mobbed by the paparazzi just hours after news spread of her split from husband Kevin Federline.
The pop princess dined with friends in the Big Apple and then went ice skating at Rockefeller Center, where fans cheered her on.
But not everyone in the Spears clan was overjoyed by the bust-up.
In California, Britney's little sis, Jamie Lynn, was in tears over the breakup.
In Britney's home state of Louisiana, all was quiet at Mom Lynn's house, as we were told she was out of town.
But some stars were dancing for joy over Brit's big news.
“Go out there and rock it,” “Dancing with the Stars” semi-finalist Joey Lawrence said.
“Finally! You go girl!” Cheryl Burke chimed in.
On Wednesday, “The View” even threw a party, celebrating the news that rocked Hollywood and blindsided Mr. Spears himself.
Our Jerry Penacoli caught up with Kevin's best friend Ralph Johnson in Fresno, Calif. Wednesday, who talked to the rapper.
“He's a good guy,” he said. “Didn't hear it from his wife.”
As for Britney's filing of papers, Kevin was apparently clueless as late as Monday, when he visited Much Music in Toronto and gushed over his wife.
“She's probably my number one fan,” K-Fed said. “Together we take over the world.”
But People magazine's Jess Cagle believes Kevin should have seen it coming.
Cagle dished the couple's 2-year union, chronicled in their TV show “Chaotic,” was in constant turmoil.
As “Extra” first reported, it may have come to a head when Kevin stood Britney up for dinner just last week, leaving Spears in tears.
However, Kevin's non-stop party boy ways may have been the couple's biggest problem.
“After she had her second baby, the baby was only three weeks old and then Kevin was off partying in Vegas,” Cagle said. “It did not sit well with her.”
On the same day his wife filed for divorce, “Extra” discovered Kevin partying in Toronto, just after he revealed to Much Music, “If I had a hard day, and I really needed to get away, me and the wife are beefin' or something like that, then yeah. I'll go out and have a good time.”
Now “Extra” breaks more news, as we discover Federline may fight back.
“I think this is a money ploy,” dished TMZ.com's Managing Editor Harvey Levin.
Levin also revealed that Kevin first heard the news after TMZ.com broke the story. Now Kevin is about the launch an all-out custody battle for 1-year-old Sean Preston and 2-month-old Jayden James.
“He said, 'I'm going to fight you for custody.' He's going to lose,” Harvey said. “But I don't think she wants to fight, and she'll probably throw a little bit more money at him to go away for good.”
As more in the Britney-Kevin divorce drama unravels, the woman K-Fed dumped for Britney, Shar Jackson, weighs in on the breakup.
“Honestly, I feel like when you lose someone like that, you lose a part of you,” she shared.
The other question on everyone's minds is who will get what in the split?
Thanks to Brit's iron-clad pre-nup, her massive $150 million fortune will remain untouched.
“Reportedly, Kevin gets $300,000 for half of the time they were together,” revealed Forbes magazine's Kiri Blakely. “They were together for two years.”
According to reports, Kevin is entitled to half of the proceeds from their Malibu mansion, which we've learned is valued at $10 million and is rumored to already be up for sale.
Britney will keep the oceanfront Florida condo and the Louisiana estate, which she owned before the marriage.
As for the pair's Ferrari, it's a toss-up who will drive away with that, as Britney and Kevin owned that fabulous ride fifty-fifty.
