Did Mel B Walk Out on Her Husband Following Scandal?
UPDATE: Stephen Belafonte spoke with RadarOnline.com and denied the abuse rumors. “It's absolutely ridiculous for anyone to say I physically abused Mel,” he told Radar. “It never happened.”
Belafonte claimed, “I will be filing lawsuits against the British tabloids tomorrow because they knew the story was false but published it anyway. Also, I will be filing lawsuits against individuals on Twitter, which is where these ridiculous rumors started. Anyone that was responsible for spreading these lies, will be held responsible.”
Is it over between Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte? The Sun reports that the former Spice Girl walked out on Belafonte in the wake of abuse rumors, and that friends are urging her to end the relationship.
Earlier this week, Mel B made headlines when she landed in the hospital (at the time it was believed that she collapsed from a stomach ulcer), and then took the “X Factor” stage with what appeared to be bruises and scratches, as well as a swollen face.
Belafonte took to Twitter to deny speculation that he had abused Mel B. He wrote, “I don't usually respond to Twitter msgs but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting un true!”
He added, “Mel was very ill a bunch of doctors helped her get better if fans can't just relax B4 being negative they r not real fans of @OfficialMelB.”
A source told the paper that Mel spent three days in the hospital, adding that Stephen did not visit her or attend the “X Factor” finale on Sunday.
The insider said, “None of that means that he has ever laid a finger on Mel, but he is not an easy person to be with, that is obvious to see. It was a physical and emotional collapse. There was an emotional element to it, Mel has been under a lot of stress.”
The source continued, “He didn't come to the show on Sunday as far as I am aware. He wasn't in her dressing room. I don't believe he visited her in hospital, either.”
Belafonte was spotted outside their apartment in London this week as a moving team loaded 20 suitcases into a van.
Another source told The Mirror, “Who knows whether the marriage will survive? At the moment, it's not looking good at all. But Mel and Stephen are so unpredictable they could just as easily survive this.”
