Tearful Céline Dion Performs Her Heart Out on Billboard Music Awards: 'The Show Must Go On'
Céline Dion made a triumphant appearance at the Billboard Music Awards, where she collected the prestigious ICON Award for her amazing career.
Appearing in silhouette, she quickly amped things up, belting out an emotional cover of the Queen tune "The Show Must Go On." Looking radiant in a glitzy gown, Dion was 100% confident as she moved around the stage before an orchestra, accompanied by violinist Lindsey Stirling.
The statement could not be missed: She had a terrible first half of 2016, losing her husband and her brother, but her heart — and her love of performing — will go on.
As a special surprise, Céline was presented with her ICON Award by her son, René-Charles, which made her lose her composure momentarily.
"I'm so sorry, I... I'm sorry for crying," she said, weeping. She asked her son, "Do you mind just standing next to me?" His chill response ("Sure, yeah") broke the tension, allowing the crowd to laugh after the powerful message of Céline's performance.
"Wow, this is such a tremendous honor, of course," Céline continued. "You know, music has been my passion since before I can almost remember. So many people have helped me get where I am today... Most especially, I wanna thank the fans for traveling through music with me, in good and bad times."
Most movingly, Céline took care to thank her mother (who wrote her first song), her children, and "most importantly, my beloved husband, whom I know will continue to watch over me from up above."

TMZ reports Dion was shocked by René-Charles' appearance, since show producers had only referred to him as "the package" when they speaking of him during rehearsals.
It was the first time the 15-year-old had been to a star-studded awards show where his mom was present. He took full advantage, and even got a pic with Rihanna backstage.
