What Josh & Anna Duggar Are Doing to Keep Their Marriage from Falling Apart
Josh and Anna Duggar are trying to make their marriage work following his rehab stint in March.
Just before the Memorial Day weekend, the couple revealed they were seeking counseling after he confessed to an addiction to pornography and infidelity last year. In a statement on their website, Josh and Anna said, "As we enter into a long family weekend together, we want to thank each of you for the prayers, love and encouragement you've sent our way. Since the residential treatment program ended, we have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing. It isn't easy and some days are very difficult.”
The pair continued, "It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship. We are very thankful for God's forgiveness, grace and help, as it is our strength and guide to rebuilding our lives. As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children.”
In TLC's “Jill & Jessa: Counting On,” Anna credited her faith with giving her the strength to stand by Josh's side after his sex scandals. She said on the show, "I knew if I went off of what I was feeling, I would turn a mess into a disaster. In the stun and in the shock of everything, I was just praying, 'God, help me to respond to all of this.' I didn't know what to do. I knew we needed help, and I was just praying God would give the wisdom and the help that we needed to take the next step."
Josh and Anna, who married in 2008, have four kids together — Marcus, 2, Mackynzie, 6, Michael, 4, and Meredith Grace, 7 months.
