Meghan Markle’s Security Scare in Fiji

On Wednesday, Meghan Markle was forced to shorten a solo engagement at a Fiji market, due to safety concerns.

Markle was six minutes into the engagement when her security team made a decision to escort her out of the market, which was “a lot busier than expected.”

A Palace source shared with Vanity Fair, “The walk around the market was meant to be a 15-minute engagement and an extension of Meghan meeting some of the female vendors who have been involved in the U.N. Women's project 'Markets for Change,' but the engagement was shortened because of crowd management. The duchess met the women she was meant to meet, but the walkabout was shortened because it was a lot busier than expected.”

It was recently revealed that Meghan will be cutting back some of her schedule during their 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand. DailyMail.com reporter Rebecca English recently tweeted, “One source tells me it isn't that the duchess is feeling poorly, but they're trying to 'pace' her given how many engagements are coming up. The couple are due to undertake 76 on the 16-day tour. It is unlikely Meghan will do many engagements on Fraser Island due to the terrain.”

She added, “Pregnant Meghan WILL fly to #Fiji and #Tonga but it is possible there may be some adjustments to her programme there as well. #royalvisit.”
