Joe Giudice: ICE Officers Took Selfies During Deportation
Joe Giudice was in the custody of ICE while fighting his deportation to Italy until recently — but even though it was a tough situation for him, he says ICE officers took selfies with him upon his release.
Joe Giudice’s First Words After ICE Custody Release
View StoryPeople magazine reports that in a new clip from "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen's" sit-down with Joe and Teresa Giudice, Joe says while he was being escorted in D.C. to the plane that would take him back to his native Italy, officers seemingly treated him like a trophy.
"When we got to the airport... we had to meet all these other security guards — I don't know who was D.A.A. or D.A. or whatever the hell you wanna call 'em — I had two immigration officers, one on each side, they're takin' selfies with me the whole time," Joe says.
Cohen reacts to the inappropriate scenario by exhaling and observing, "Tax dollars."
Joe goes on to say when he arrived in Rome, he told his government escorts "where to go have a good time 'cause they were staying there till Monday, so they were heading out to a few islands in Naples and, y'know, then they were headin' back home... I gave 'em recommendations to go and have a good time."
The tough-talking "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star also claims he refused handcuffs, saying, "Listen — I am not getting in no handcuffs... What the hell am I gonna do? If I wanted to leave, I would just kick your butts and leave. I ain't gonna do that."
Joe and Teresa have been apart for years while he served a 41-month sentence for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud that began in March 2016. Teresa had previously served a bit over 11 months for the same crimes. She was freed on December 23, 2015.
Now that Joe is free, he is stuck in Italy, where he hasn't lived since childhood, as he continues to fight for the right to return to the U.S. His third, and presumably final, appeal will be heard next month.
Cohen's interview with both Giudices airs Sunday, October 27, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
