Chris Hemsworth’s Dramatic Weight Loss Made Him Completely Unrecognizable
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
On Sunday, Chris Hemsworth posted an unrecognizable photo of himself on the set of his film “In the Heart of the Sea”!
Hemsworth captioned the Instagram snap, "Just tried a new diet/training program called 'Lost At Sea.' Wouldn't recommend it.. #IntheHeartoftheSea.”
In the shirtless photo, Chris, who is known for his buff body, looked much skinnier than usual, with a scruffy beard. He reportedly consumed just 500 calories a day in order to lose weight for the film, which is about a crew fighting for survival after their ship is hit by a massive whale in 1820.
Chris recently told EW about losing weight for the movie, “When you're already starting off lean, it's brutal to chew through that kind of weight. Every pound feels like a kilogram.”
Director Ron Howard added, “They had to work out every day, even on shooting days. Because they had to lose the weight pretty fast and they had to lose it safely. They needed to keep burning the calories and we also needed that sinewy strength that was more of that era, as opposed to a kind of cut, buff look.”
