Stars Weigh In on the Women’s March at SAG Awards 2018
On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of protesters marched across the country and the world in solidarity as part of the Women's March.
The event in Hollywood held special meaning in light of the #MeToo and #TIMESUP movements that flooded social media after sexual harassment in the industry was brought to light.
Many celebrities discussed the Women's March on the red carpet of the SAG Awards, including Allison Janney. Janney took part in the march, revealing, “I got to introduce Melissa Etheridge, which made me so happy. I got to hear her, I got to hear Lupita [Nyong'o], I got to hear Rob Reiner and Viola Davis — she knows how to rile the crowds.”
The movement is getting bigger, with Allison commenting, “The shift is official. It is happening. I really feel like we are going to flip the House [to Democratic control] in the midterms, and that's the start of making the changes we need to see in this country.”
Janney went on to win Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her work in "I, Tonya."
Goldie Hawn and her daughter Kate Hudson were together on the carpet before presenting together. Kate shared, “I love seeing how our generation, for me, is feeling so comfortable in those environments now, that they are very confident in their position and desires to speak out. It's very nice to see.”
