Will Carrie Fisher Appear in ‘Star Wars’ Episode 9? Lucasfilm President Explains
Nearly four months after Carrie Fisher's death at age 60, “Star Wars" fans are still wondering about the future of Princess Leia.
While she is definitely going to be a part of Episode 8, “The Last Jedi,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that Fisher will not appear in the next installment.
“Extra” was with Kennedy at the annual Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, where she told us, “When Carrie passed away that was a huge blow to everybody and caused us to have to rethink what we were doing and where we were headed with that story."
She later confirmed to ABC, “Unfortunately, Carrie passed away, so by the time we were well underway with Episode 9 – in our thoughts, we had not written the script yet – we regrouped, we started over again in January, so sadly, Carrie will not be in [Episode] 9. We'll see a lot of her in [Episode] 8.”
“Extra” was also with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas at Celebration, where they remembered Fisher and talked about Princess Leia's legacy. Watch!
