The Emotional Tribute to Carrie Fisher at 'Star Wars' Celebration
This year's "Star Wars" Celebration got off to an emotional start Thursday in Orlando with a tribute to Carrie Fisher.
George Lucas, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie's daughter Billie Lourd were on hand at the opening panel, hosted by Warwick Davis.
Lucas paid tribute to Carrie, who passed away in December.
He told the crowd, “She really is a modern woman. She was a princess. She was a senator. She was having to hold her own against these two big lugs [referring to Mark and Harrison]… There really wasn't much of a question; there aren't very many people like her. They're one in a billion. She could hold her own through anything.”
Lucas continued, “She wore a dress through the whole thing, but she was the toughest one in the group. At the same time she was fun to be with. She'll always be the princess who took command and never backed down, never was in jeopardy. We'll all love her forever and ever.”
Billie, who wore a Tom Ford dress inspired by her mother's Princess Leia costume, told the tearful crowd, “My mom, like Leia, was never afraid to speak her mind and say things that made people uncomfortable. Nothing about her was a performance.”

Later, to the surprise of the crowd, a curtain opened, revealing composer John Williams and a full orchestra playing a "Star Wars" medley, including “Princess Leia's Theme.”
